An exciting opportunity has arisen in Main Theatres for two positions Registered Scrub Practitioners with a focus on Orthopaedic/Trauma/Acute scrub. These are fixed-term contracts to cover a Maternity Leave until April 2026.
We work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care to patients Pre, Peri and Post Operatively, ensuring that all patients’ safety, dignity and individual rights are maintained at all times.
Main Theatres comprises of 6 theatres and a 6 bay PACU.
We cover many different specialties within Main Theatres such as Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Urology, Orthopaedics, Breast Surgery, General Surgery, Trauma and Acutes.
We run a 24/7 acute/trauma/emergency obstetrics service with shift patterns of 8-6, 8-8 and 1945-0815 as a standard.
Main duties of the job
The role of theatres is to provide high quality patient-focused care in the perioperative setting. This service is provided electively across a range of surgical specialities:
* General Surgery
* Orthopaedics
* Gynaecology
* Urology
* Acute and Trauma
* Obstetric
As a Theatre Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive and specialist care to patients undergoing surgery, across a range of specialities with a keen focus within Orthopaedics scrub role.
The role will also require the delivery of safe patient care clinically across all perioperative roles, and you will participate and act as a role model in the cleaning, re-stocking and preparation of the operating theatre areas and equipment care.
You are required to have excellent communication and clinical skills, able to communicate effectively with the MDT, Matron and theatre coordinators, be a team player, be empathetic and be able to remain calm and steady under pressure. This role also requires a reassuring manner and the understanding of the rights, privacy & dignity and safeguarding of all patients and service users.

Experience

* Year post NMC experience.
* Orthopaedic scrub experience.
* Multi-skilled Practitioner in Anaesthetics/PACU/Scrub.
