We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established contractor within the UK water sector for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. This role is based in the Severn Trent region, with flexibility for hybrid working.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to contribute to the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects within a long-term, secure framework environment.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of project(s), from pre-construction through to completion. You will work closely with internal delivery teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure commercial best practice and contractual compliance across all aspects of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage quantity surveying duties across assigned projects and work packages.
* Collaborate with design, construction, and supply chain teams to manage and control project costs.
* Administer main contracts and ensure appropriate contractual notices and documentation are issued.
* Prepare subcontract documentation and manage subcontractor performance.
* Lead on applications for payment, valuations, and cost reporting.
* Produce accurate forecasts, budgets, and cost/value reconciliations.
* Contribute to the development of junior commercial staff.
* Maintain professional engagement with clients and promote effective working relationships.
* Participate in continuous professional development and maintain awareness of industry standards.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Progress towards or attainment of Chartered Membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g. RICS, CIOB).
* Experience in utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors.
* Strong knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
* Experience in managing or mentoring junior team members.
* Flexible working options available (full-time or part-time hours considered).
