AZAD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III for a full-time permanent employment position based in Newport, Michigan.
This position is full-time on-site in Newport, MI. The annual salary range for this position is between $110k-$120k depending on related qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions:
Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
5 years of mechanical system design or modification experience with at least 2 years in a nuclear facility in the US.
US Citizenship for security clearance.
Ability to pass a thorough background screening to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred:
NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
Professional Engineering (PE) license in the US.
Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or equivalent).
Experience with fire protection and detection systems.
