Family Care are a family-owned social care provider. We have been providing therapeutically informed care and education for children and young people since 1988. We work with a determination to create environments which enable traumatised children and young people to take their first steps towards recovery.
Our therapeutic services team work closely with all staff members through consultation and reflective practice sessions to support them in the therapeutic care they provide our children and young people. Through our consultation model we aim to educate and empower staff, support self-reflection, promote safe practice and develop an appreciation of the life journey our young people have been on. In doing so, we have adopted the Secure Base model as our practice model, this model underpins all practice across Family Care.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a therapeutic team and join an organization that has a strong reputation for providing therapeutically informed care. The successful candidate will work across two of our newly opened residential settings in Leominster, Herefordshire. As the Therapeutic Practitioner you will offer therapeutic support to two residential staff teams drawing on therapeutic approaches to offer support and explore therapeutic parenting strategies that meet identified needs within our homes.
This is a part-time position, working 15 hours (2 days) per week.
Main duties and responsibilities
* To support staff with reflective practice, and implementing the Secure Base model across residential homes through group and one-to-one sessions
* To lead on assessment process to support the development of clinical plans that build on our young people's strengths and support their individual needs
* Facilitate and/or attend a variety of meetings as required across the homes
* Liaise with internal and external professionals
* Be responsible for keeping accurate and GDPR compliant notes
* Support the delivery and development of company-wide training
* On occasions, deliver individual therapeutic work with children and young people
* Any other duties that are reasonably required by Family Care and the Therapeutic Services team
What we're looking for...
To apply for this position, it is essential you:
* Hold a relevant therapeutic or counselling qualification (i.e. Art Psychotherapy, Play & Creative Arts Therapy etc.)
* Post qualifying experience of 2+ years working therapeutically with children, young people and families.
* Have a good working knowledge of trauma informed and attachment based approaches and experience of working with parents/carers/professionals supporting children to recover from developmental trauma
* Have an understanding of children's mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions
* Ability and experience in writing therapeutically to complete reports
* Be registered/governed with an accredited body (i.e. HCPC, PTUK, BACP, etc)
* Share a commitment to equal opportunities in all work practices and to improving the lives of children in care
* Have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
* Hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own car
* An enhanced DBS will be required upon appointment
