The primary focus of this role is to work the with clinical haematology team to develop our approach to the care and management of patients with haematological illness. Working closely with the nurse consultant and advanced nurse practitioner the clinical nurse specialist will be work as a part of multi-professional working, you will promote safe practice and manage a haematology day care unit. Crucially you will create a positive and supportive environment for both staff and patients within the department. Experience in the care of patients with haematological illness is essential. The post holder must have a post registration qualification in the safe administration of chemotherapy. Understanding of the needs of patients with haematological disease will enable you the confidence to meet the challenges this post requires. The post holder will act as a source of expert advice, support and training in haematology. The role is divided into five areas: clinical practice, teaching, management, consulting, and leads in research and audit.

• Lead the nursing team within the haematology day unit
• Work with the haematology ward staff to provide chemotherapy services to patients with malignant disease
• Key member of the chemotherapy working group and haematology MDT
• Education lead for chemotherapy administration
• Key worker at point of diagnosis and obtain written consent to chemotherapy treatment
