About the role
Morrison Water Services is currently looking to recruit a highly skilled Senior Construction Manager to oversee a major project on our Thames Water Infrastructure Capital Delivery Framework in Bexley.
The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing a flagship project from inception to completion and for the safe, on time, efficient and right first time delivery. The Senior Construction Manager will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. The Senior Construction Manager will lead a team of professionals as well as being the point of contact for the Client and stakeholders with Morrison Water Services procedures to deliver world-class health, safety, environment, and well-being performance and providing leading customer service and satisfaction.
You will also deliver operational objectives to support Thames Water in meeting their Performance Commitments and achieving high levels of compliance with Water UK performance metric targets, supporting the maximisation of cash collection and margin whilst maintaining an excellent relationship with Thames Water through collaboration. The scope of works will be varied to include but not be limited to gravity pipeline, rising mains, trunk mains, pumping stations, M&E works, shafts and tunnelling.
As the Senior Construction Manager, your duties and responsibilities will be:
1. Collaboration with Clients, designers and delivery teams throughout the Target Cost Setting, design and delivery phases of a project.
2. Leadership of a large team, co-ordinate project stakeholders such as highways, local authorities, TFL.
3. Mentor and lead project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
4. Develop an environment where staff share ideas and best practice.
5. Problem solving, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
6. Ensuring projects are delivered in a safe, efficient, timely way and promoting best practice in quality management.
7. Ensuring compliance with Morrison Water Services procedures to support the delivery of world class health and safety, customer and quality performance.
8. Ensuring compliance with Morrison Water Services environmental processes and procedures.
9. Delivery of excellent customer service and achieve above target customer satisfaction scores; minimise/reduce number of complaints received.
10. Increase productivity, without compromising on safety and continuously drive efficiency.
11. Assist in maximising cash collection and minimising work in progress and deliver targeted margin.
12. Undertake SHE audits and inspections.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
1. Experience of working in the water industry essential, large complex projects.
2. Experienced leader with proven track record in leading multidiscipline teams.
3. Proven ability to deliver against operational targets.
4. Commercially aware and engaged.
5. Naturally collaborative, able to build relationships with key client and supply chain contacts.
6. Able to command respect and establish personal and business credibility.
7. Committed to delivering the highest health and safety standards.
8. Experience in an operational manager role.
9. Experience of Civils, tunnelling, trunk mains, pumping stations.
10. Experience with MEICA.
11. Experience in managing designers and subcontractors.
Qualifications / Training:
1. Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction preferable.
2. Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent.
3. NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction).
4. SMSTS.
5. APM.
6. Water hygiene.
