Carbon60 are currently looking for multi-skilled fitters to join a client of ours based in Haydock. These Fitter positions are predominantly mechanical how ever having experience using electrical testing equipment will be highly beneficial. This is a Temp - Perm position.
Working Hours/Shift Pattern:7am - 4pm Monday - Thursday, 7am - 1pm Friday, 30 mins unpaid break, 40 hours/week + call out rota
Overtime:If on-call obligations mean they stay after 1pm on a Friday they're in overtime (1.5x)
5x - Outside standard hours Monday - Friday, 7am - 12pm on Saturday
2x - Midnight (Friday/Saturday) to 7am Saturday, 12pm Saturday to end of Sunday
If working past midnight for the next day at any point, hours are accrued for the following day to be paid so can have later start
Call-Out:
1 week in every 4 weeks, for the 1 week they get £225 retaining fee during that week, whether they get a call or not
If they get a call and go into workshop, call-out fee of £40 and a minimum payment of 4 hours at appropriate rate, 1.5x before midnight, 2x after midnight following structure above etc, whatever appropriate rate is at the time of working
Will only be placed on call out when management deem skill set is suitable (unlikely during first 12 weeks unless exceptional)
Pay:£18.36 per hour (£38,190 per annum)
Main duties & responsibilities:
You will carry out Repairs to all types of industrial equipment including AC and DC motors, Motorised Gearboxes, Gearbox's, Pumps, Fan units, Generators and other associated rotating equipmentSize of component can vary significantly from one job to the next - could be a fractional horse powered fan unit, then next one could be a 5-ton DC mill motor or large vertical pumpYou will have the ability to fault find and identify and rectify defects and worn / damaged components
Advantageous to have basic electrical testing capability to assess electrical condition of AC & DC components
Have sound mechanical engineering knowledge to identify and rectify faulty and worn / damaged components
You will be flexible and be prepared to work the hours required in a demanding and busy 24 / 7 service orientated environment
Participate in call out rota as required
Site working experience and CCNSG passport is advantageous, use company vehicle to travel to different sites
Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
Need mechanical fitting experience / decent exposure to mechanical fitting
Able to use measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, calipers) and able to check clearances and tolerances
Need to have experience repairing rotating equipment
Highly desirable/ preferable to have electrical skill set - able to test live and static equipment and use electrical testing equipment
However, candidates with solely mechanical experience can be considered
Also open to someone with machining skills/background - e.g. someone with lathe / manual machining and has exposure to mechanical fitting if they can use measuring equipment etc
Active full driving license essential to visit customer sites in company vehicle when required
Able to complete medical assessment once in the role if required
