The Post An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Recruitment for a Digital Marketing Manager. At the University of Stirling we communicate with a global audience across paid, earned and owned digital channels and we require a dynamic individual to provide leadership across multiple digital communication channels. Working closely with the marketing and web teams you will create and deliver the digital content, email and social media strategies and oversee the output of high-quality content including copy, photography and video, ensuring content is on brand, measurable and relevant to target audiences. The post holder will be a marketing and content specialist with expertise in writing and creating engaging multimedia content for multiple target audience groups. You will be creative and innovative with the ability to bring to life insights, topics and trends, interrogate analytics and provide great reporting. You will have an appreciation of the technological environment within which the digital marketing team operates and an understanding of the tools and business processes required to deliver high-quality creative assets and targeted content. You will have significant experience leading the delivery of content projects in digital and marketing environments using social networks, email marketing software, CRM systems and third party media channels to generate awareness, leads and optimise conversion. You will have experience in the production, delivery and implementation of content for large paid media schedules. The post holder will report to the Head of Digital and Content and will line manage a team of digital marketers responsible for social media, campaign content, email campaigns, Chinese marketing activity and general content production. Description of Duties The post holder will manage the University’s digital content channels, ensuring that the conversation is engaging, on brand and relevant to our priority markets. Duties include: Planning and research Create and manage the University’s digital marketing strategies including a digital content, email communication, social media strategy and international market strategies Plan and implement the operational digital content plans including video content, social media and blogs Work with the Chinese digital agency to develop the China digital marketing strategy, paid media campaigns and operational plans Report and analyse the customer behaviour to plan and improve lead generation email cycles Oversee email marketing campaigns, ensuring that emails are delivered to increase engagement and conversions Lead content planning sessions with Student Ambassadors and staff Plan, manage and report on expenditure against budgets Collect market intelligence on trends, user insights and provide analysis and interpretation to inform direction Report on campaign and content performance Content Oversee the development of engaging digital content in blog, web, video, social media and email format Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimised for search and user experience Writing, proof reading and sub-editing digital communications, checking the factual accuracy of communications before they are published Develop systems, processes and best practice for content creation, distribution, maintenance, and content repurposing Establish workflows for briefing, creating, editing and publishing content Develop and maintain content on external and third-party websites, i.e. University profile and course content on third party portals Work with the communications and marketing teams to research and develop content that enhances the University research, student recruitment and brand profile online Develop creative content to support advertising media schedules, email schedules and digital media ensuring integration of content activities within marketing campaigns Work with the Digital Media Designer and Video Producer to develop impactful, on brand assets Oversee the management and editing of video and blog content from Student Ambassadors Insight and reporting Horizon scan, collect market intelligence on digital trends, user insights and provide analysis and interpretation to inform direction Lead on reporting of performance for campaigns, social, e-mail and Chinese media Relationships Manage relationships with external suppliers including media buyers, communications agency, videographers, graphic designers, translators, content developers and other suppliers where required Liaise with colleagues in communications, marketing, recruitment, events, advancement, student support, the Students’ Union and careers to agree priorities and agree key messages Build internal networks across the University and inspire staff and students to create content Team management Build, manage and develop the digital marketing team Set objectives, measure outcomes and provide feedback on performance Oversee the management of the social media ambassadors, running training sessions to ensure they are equipped to produce audience relevant content Essential Criteria You will be an enthusiastic and reliable team player, with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to optimise this exciting and innovative role. Essential skills include: Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate relevant experience with experience at senior level, responsible for leading teams Excellent organisational and planning skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to multitask Exceptional communication and copywriting skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into easily understood content Creativity with the ability to lead the development and implementation of engaging content including copy, film, photography, infographics, etc Ability to understand the role of content in relation to earned, paid, owned, and shared media Experience of budget planning and management Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to build effective and credible working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners Experience in delivering engaging content for multiple communications channels including; website, social media, presentations, advertising, and email marketing Ability to review analytics for content performance and identify learnings and opportunities Desirable Criteria Keen interest in new technologies and trends Experience gained working within the HE sector Experience using WordPress content management system Ability to use creative packages such as Adobe Photoshop Experience in using email marketing software Experience in using workflow planning and social media planning software Additional Information Full time Open ended The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 16 February 2025.
