Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Adult Audiologist to join our Rochdale Community Audiology Service team The Rochdale Audiology Service is friendly, forward thinking and experienced with a good skill mix. It is an innovative and dynamic service that provides treatment and advice to adults and children with hearing and balance problems. You will provide specialist adultservices and some routine adult services in line with service requirements across the Rochdale Audiology community clinic footprint. To meet service needs, there may be a requirement to work on a adhoc basis into our other clinic sites in Oldham and Bury. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and caring person to complement our existing audiology team. The role requires post qualification adult audiology experiencein ordertoundertake complex adult audiology work. Key Requirements of the Person Specification: o BSc / MSc in Audiology or the equivalent professional qualification (ONC BTEC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements with a Professional Qualification in Audiology (BAAT Part I and II). o RCCP/AHCSor HCPCregistration Hours of work: The service operates over the core hours of 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Main duties of the job The Specialist Audiologist will provide audiological care to adult patients with complex hearing conditions. This will include triage of GP referrals, assessment of new patients and follow up of patients that have more complex hearing issues. It will incorporate advanced hearing aid fittings, auditory rehabilitation and tinnitus management for adult patients that require specialist interventions. The Specialist Audiologist will select, fit hearing aids where appropriate and rehabilitate routine and some non-routine adult patients using the community boroughs computer management system.The Specialist Audiologist will have knowledge in Audiology to assesspatients directly referred from their GP and seek advice or refer patients tosee a Senior Audiologist, Advanced Practitioner or Consultant using national and local guidelines.The Specialist Audiologist will interpret diagnostic tests and explain the results of these tests to patients, relatives and carers in an appropriate andempathetic manner, being sensitive to the complex communication difficulties of patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.The Specialist Audiologist will record audiological investigations and treatment plans on the community boroughs computer management system and formulate reports to other health professionals and key stakeholders where appropriate.
