Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our highly skilled and motivated Pathology Blood Sciences Team at Harrogate & District Hospital as Haematology Section Manager. The Pathology team at Harrogate is highly regarded having an excellent reputation with service users. The post is for up to 37.5hours per week and would suit anyone who already holds a specialist portfolio in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, equivalent qualification or experience (at least 5 years Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory experience) and a relevant post graduate qualification conducive with Fellowship of the IBMS. Main duties of the job The Haematology Department has two Sysmex XN-1000 full blood count analysers and two ACL Topp 550 coagulation analysers. Blood transfusion has two Grifols Blood Grouping analyser. Following successful UKAS assessments all sections of Pathology are compliant with ISO15189 standards and fully accredited. The department has excellent IT systems with ICE requesting & reporting, Clinisys WinPath LIMS, and Q Pulse quality management system. Job Summary: To assist the discipline specific Clinical Director, Cross Site Service Lead and General Managers in supervising and carrying out the routine work in order to meet Departmental and Organisational objectives within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department To manage staffing and technical resource so as to ensure the day to day running of the department. To assist with the development and implementation of new techniques and working practices.
