TATA Steel in Shotton is seeking a skilled Engineering Fabricator/Welder for a 12-month temporary role.
This position is perfect for an experienced welder/fabricator with excellent communication skills, a strong adherence to Health and Safety policies, and a willingness to learn and grow in their role.

Rate:
£16.51 per hour
Shifts:
Full Time, 39 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:00 and Friday 08:00 - 15:00
Contract length:
12 months initially, could be extended and lead to a permanent position
Start:
ASAP (within 1-2 weeks)
Responsibilities:
1. Manufacture and repair equipment using various welding and fabrication techniques.
2. Support the Manufacturing Engineering function in maintaining process lines, cranes, and safety systems across the site.
3. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with local and works SOPs to maintain a safe working environment.
4. Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental performance standards, following IMS procedures and PPE instructions, and facilitate team safety meetings.
5. Operate equipment safely within the Manufacturing Engineering workshops.
6. Manufacture fabrications from existing drawings to the required standard and within the expected delivery period.
7. Assist with the development of designs for process line and safety improvements.
8. Undertake repairs and refurbishments of existing equipment, e.g., Galvanising line pot gear.
9. Actively contribute to continuous improvement, maintaining and enhancing safety and housekeeping standards.
10. Perform work on process lines, auxiliary plant, and cranes as needed.
11. Conduct Zone Safety audits as per the Safety Sub Plan.
12. Perform Risk assessments and LOLERs for activities undertaken.
13. Deputise for the Team Leader as required.
Essential Requirements:
1. Time-served welder/fabricator with relevant plant experience in the steel and construction industry.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. Full understanding of Health and Safety procedures and company policies.
4. Good risk awareness when planning and undertaking tasks.
Desirable Qualities:
1. Mechanical engineering skills.
2. Ability to manage risk assessments and safety tasks.
