Assistant Mental Health Clinician, Band 4 (0.5 - 18.75hours) x 2 in Emotional & Behavioural Team (E&B), Luton CAMHS
(This is a suitable position for an aspiring Clinical Psychologist/Child Psychotherapist/Family Therapist)
We are looking for a confident aspiring CAMHS professional with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence based interventions, improving service quality with a strong interest in service development.
You will be required to have completed a good undergraduate degree meeting eligibility for a professional training Clinical Psychology, Child Psychotherapy and Systemic Family Therapy. You will have access to supervision from a senior clinician from the discipline you intend to train. There are also opportunities to access NHSE funding for pre-clinical training and EDI bursaries to support access for colleagues from disadvantaged groups.
Main duties of the job
E&B offers interventions within Getting More Help and Risk Support quadrants of the Thrive Model. This includes short to medium-term, and longer-term therapeutic work with children, young people and their parents. The interventions will range from group work, work with parents/parental couple and carers, consultations to professional network, training and other interventions within the CAMHS wider system.
The role will encompass clinical, professional and developmental aspects, requiring the post holder to work in close collaboration with colleagues. The post holder will help promote and maintain the role of assistant mental health clinicians across the disciplines within the team, and through development and supervision manage complex clinical presentations.
The post holder will provide generic input into the E&B (Emotional and Behavioural) Team under the supervision of a senior clinician. This will include professional and practice development, ensuring high quality client-centered evidence based care is delivered. The post holder will maintain high standards of care and practice and take on a greater range of clinical tasks to improve client care in the specialist CAMH service. The post holder will have access to clinical supervision and support across all the disciplines.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Clinical Psychologist: A good undergraduate degree in psychology meeting British Psychological Society (BPS) with (eligibility for) graduate membership of the BPS.
* Family Therapy: Enrolment in a 2 years of AFT accredited Systemic Family Therapy training, or nearing completion for Family Practitioner Qualification.
Knowledge
* An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the causes and presentations of mental health and development difficulties in infants, 0-5 children and parents/carers.
* Ability to use computers for database analysis, such as SPSS, for windows and qualitative analysis packages.
Skills
* High level of communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to communicate sensitively with clients, staff and external agencies, using accessible language.
* Ability to provide and receive highly sensitive or contentious information in a highly emotive and sometimes hostile atmosphere, in a range of relationships and settings.
