About the company
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM, based in Whitley, who are seeking a Cockpit Rig Operations Engineer to join their team.
Position Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be at the forefront of a new Infotainment rig testing strategy.
You will be part of the creation, maintenance and expansion of centrally managed, bookable and remotely accessible rig farm test assets. The role is laboratory based and requires hands-on skills in electrical and electronic systems as well as strong IT skills, working under a lead engineer.
You will support with the design, build and maintenance of new infotainment rigs to align with the Clients' new electrical architecture. You will support all areas of infotainment and infotainment partners including integration, navigation, component owners, and external partners with collaboration across the Client, constantly seeking process and design improvements to provide our customers with world-class test and integration platforms. You will be a pivotal element of the labs development and future expansion supporting the increasing demand for effective software and component verification.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Creation, maintenance and expansion of bookable, shareable, and remotely accessible infotainment test rigs.
2. Addition of test assets to the Clients' networks for internal, partners, and external customer use.
3. Lead collaboration between the Client rigs team and network team to implement their network solution for our test assets.
4. Implement remote accessibility from global locations to maximize usage.
5. Support rig farm strategy rollout in other global locations.
6. Support delivery and reporting of electrical test rig activities.
7. Read architecture drawings and extract required info to create working Infotainment test properties and upgrade with new vehicle line specific HW.
8. Pro-actively assist in creation and refinement of activity processes and procedures in the Electrical Test facility, including rig building, upgrades, and maintenance.
9. Rig build planning and construction in line with accepted customer requests.
10. Correctional maintenance skills on electrical test properties.
11. Engage with the implementation of all Health & Safety, ISO14001, ISO45001, TS16949, COSHH & Lean procedures and standards as required by the business.
12. Ensure high levels of Facility tidiness and cleanliness at all times in line with company process (5s, Office Standards).
13. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
Experience Required:
1. Software flashing.
2. Rig build and maintenance.
3. Project planning.
4. Qualified electrical engineer preferably with degree or other suitable qualifications.
Experience Preferred:
1. Python scripting or similar.
2. Networking experience.
