The Opportunity:
To support our clients exciting growth and development, we’re looking for a multi-skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our technical team on-site here at Spadeadam.
As part of our clients world leading team, you'll support projects directly involved in energy transition and the UK's journey to net zero. Their pioneering research projects are sponsored by some of the world's most innovative organisations, so you will be at the forefront of investigating the use of alternative fuels, gas transmission and its viability for conversion to greener and safer solutions.
Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Team Lead you’ll be responsible for providing technical assistance to our project teams in the construction and development of new test rigs and planning the electrical and instrumentation installation. Your duties will include providing technical support to ensure the correct standard of electrical and instrument equipment is used to the best advantage and to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Unlike some Electrical & Instrumentation opportunities, the clients roles are site-based at Spadeadam, meaning there won't be ongoing travel across the region/UK and you will also work to a standard 37.5 hour week, so your work-life balance won't be impacted by the need to work shifts, weekends, or be on call over weekends and holiday periods.
Hopefully you can already tell that working at Spadeadam is no ordinary role. The nature of what the client does and the impact you can make is unique. Working across a variety of projects, your role will carry a high level of responsibility, so you’ll need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure. Whilst we are located in a beautiful part of the country, the sun doesn’t always shine and with many aspects of your work being outside, you will need to be comfortable working in inclement conditions.

Qualifications:

Level 3 City and Guilds
IEE 18th edition compliant
Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391)
Preferable experience in undertaking maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification work inclusive of both single and three phase
Experience of undertaking inspection work on equipment installed in hazardous areas
Demonstrable knowledge of relevant health & safety regulations
In addition, we would expect candidates who can demonstrate:-
Excellent organisational skills with the initiative to plan and prioritise own workload and collaborating with others to manage conflicting deadlines
Being customer focused, proactive and results driven is key. You’ll possess real attention to detail and be adept in working with tight response times and ensuring enquiries and issues are dealt with in a timely manner
Please note that due to the nature of our Spadeadam site, successful applicants will be required to possess a full UK Driving Licence and to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (application for clearance will be assisted by DNV).
