A Power Network Craftsperson has responsibility for the safe construction, maintenance, and repair of the UK’s electrical power network, to provide a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the country. This involves working at various locations across the UK’s power network.
Due to continuous growth, we are now seeking an Apprentice Power Network Craftsperson’s to join our HV team in our Hamilton Business Unit.
The successful candidate will be required to commit to a 36-month apprenticeship with Quartzelec ltd. starting in September 2024.
***This apprenticeship which will include block release study weeks at Utility and Construction Training Centre (UCT) Manchester. (Accommodation and transportation will be provided).
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
Your Key Responsibilities & Accountability on completion of apprenticeship
* Installation, maintenance, and repair of HV switchgear and transformers up to and including 33kV
* Participate fully with all site Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
* Assist the Senior authorised person with Testing of HV installations
* Installation of cable management systems (trays and trunking)
* Provide HV cable Jointers Mate's duties as and when required
* Ferrule identification and crimping of cores
* Ability to read cable block diagrams, cable schedules and termination schedules
* Ability to read schematic drawings preferential
* Mounting and installing a variety of components
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
Apprenticeship candidates will normally have attained 3 to 5 GCSEs at grades A to C (including mathematics, English, and a science), or equivalent qualifications.
The following qualifications are attained through this apprenticeship:
* Technical Certificate C&G 2339-17 in Electrical Power Engineering Level 2
* SHEA Power (EUSR)
* BESC Basic Electrical Safety Competence (EUSkills)
