DEBT PARALEGAL - NEWCASTLE

The Debt Paralegal will play a crucial role in the debt recovery process, handling a range of responsibilities that include:
1. Recovering debts and negotiating payments and settlements.
2. Assisting in the issuance of court proceedings, enforcements, and bankruptcy petitions.
3. Maintaining regular contact with clients, providing updates on case statuses.
4. Engaging in regular telephone contact with courts, solicitor firms, debtors, and agents.
5. Instructing and liaising with court advocates.
6. Managing file opening, closure, and ongoing administration, including updating the case management system.
7. Performing scanning, photocopying, and general document management.
8. Ensuring client and matter records are maintained in line with firm procedures.
9. Assisting fee earners with various tasks and other ad-hoc administrative duties.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. At least 12 months' experience in a legal or professional services environment.
2. Knowledge of debt recovery or credit control procedures.
3. Familiarity with the litigation process and experience handling a litigated caseload.
4. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet conflicting deadlines.
5. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
6. A flexible and proactive approach to supporting fee earners within the unit.
7. Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
