The Opportunity
Due to projects continuing to expand, our client's nuclear team is seeking to recruit an experienced Project Manager (PM) with piping experience to provide leadership for the effective delivery of their assigned work package(s) within the Turbine Programme of HPC, while recognising and managing the programme’s impacts on the wider Project.
The Role
As a Piping Project Manager, you will have the responsibility to ensure delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package in accordance with the overall Project schedule. You will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters to meet the Project’s needs.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
* Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
* As the Project Manager, you will report to the Senior Project Manager for Installation & Commissioning (Turbine Programme) and will be responsible for the direction and leadership of activities associated with the Prefabrication, transport & storage, installation, and commissioning of the Turbine Hall Piping.
* Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders within their contract or package of work.
* Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
* Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Senior Project Manager.
* Undertake all contract administration activities (with support of a Commercial Manager) including variations, claims, technical queries and instructions.
Qualifications and Experience
* Demonstrated experience of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
* Able to demonstrate strong skills and experience in project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Management of commercial claims and associated negotiation experience.
* Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
* Typically, degree educated in engineering or a related field, with a preference for mechanical engineering.
* Experience of piping systems installation is highly desirable.
