The Department has grown significantly in recent years, leading to greater demand and need for procurement and commercial support. The Commercial Directorate has embarked on a transformation journey and continue to improve our systems, processes and capabilities to meet the needs of the Department.
The Commercial Directorate is made up of key pillars to provide cross-functional support to government programmes and policies: Assurance, Governance, Procurement, Policy, and Supply Chains .
This allows the team to successfully manage the commercial risk profile of the Department; deliver goods and services that demonstrate value for money; and implement government policy and initiatives to achieve social value.
We collaborate and engage with our Arm Lengths Bodies to support our key sectors.
The role holder will work cross-functionally, providing support in a newly formed commercial services team within our Commercial Operations pillar. This will include leading on procurements, drafting procurement and contract documentation and using the E-Sourcing system; providing project support to procurement; and providing training and development to non-commercial colleagues.
This role represents a great development opportunity in an exciting and dynamic environment. It will enable working across several areas of the procurement cycle, providing excellent experience and development in a number of commercial areas.
* Leading procurements - engaging with Business unit and commercial stakeholders, create procurement documentation, such as Invitation to Tenders/Request for Quotations, Award Recommendation Reports and Award Letters;
* Provide expert procurement advice making decisions that will lead to added value;
* Provide continuous support to the improvement of Commercial systems and processes, maintaining accurate data sources to support reporting activities;
* Act as a source of knowledge and advice for internal clients, influencing their buying behaviours and aiding and adding value to their call-off activities and commercial strategies where required;
* Work with customers to develop a commercial pipeline.
