TheOMFS department includes Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and theCommunity Dental Service. Our OMFS team is made up of enthusiasticand highly motivated individuals supported a dedicated specialty-secretariat,with office and networked computer facilities.
The Oral andMaxillofacial Surgery service currently has 5 consultants, 4 Specialty Doctors,2 Specialty Registrars and 11 core trainees. The Orthodontic clinical teamincludes 3 consultants, 3 specialty registrars and 2 orthodontic therapist.
The CommunityDental Services cares for the population of Wakefield and District and workacross 5 sites. The team comprises of 2 Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry, 2Senior Dental Officers and 2 Dental Officers
We have excellent facilities across all our sites with up todate clinical, operating and teaching equipment. Our acute service and ourin-patient services are based in modern and spacious facilities at PinderfieldsHospital in Wakefield, and we provide out-patient and day services on ourDewsbury Hospital and Pontefract Hospital sites.
We are a progressive teaching department andall our consultants are involved in teaching our dental students, dental coretrainees and specialty registrars, as well as ongoing professional developmentand education within our service.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will include
Provisionof care to patients in the Oral surgery.
Referralof patients to other specialities as appropriate
Out-patientactivities/clinics dependent on the needs of patients
Involvementin relevant multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvementin relevant administration duties
Teachingand supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Activeinvolvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvementactivities

This post is offered on a full time 10 ProgrammedActivity basis (9 DCC PAs and 1 SPA PAs) although less than full timeapplications will be considered.
Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield(Pinderfields) and Dewsbury sites although all our medical staff are involvedin delivering care to patients on all 3 sites.
