We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic senior Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS ) to join the Urology Macmillan Cancer Specialist Nursing Team within the surgical division. You will need to have a background in cancer nursing and be keen to innovate, lead, and improve services .
The post is a permanent Macmillan CNS post and the post holder will ensure highest standards of care for urology patients. The role will work closely with the Trust Personalised Care Lead Nurse focusing on driving the personalised care agenda and service improvements.
• Lead the development, management and promotion of the service ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care.
• Work with the MDT in leading the implementation of the Recovery Package in line with the National cancer strategy.
• Promote the philosophy of person-centred care, co-creating care with people affected by cancer.
• Use information for National cancer experience survey to influence and improve the service.
• Collate and record quantitative and qualitative data to provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality, through audit and research and provide Macmillan with an Annual Report demonstrating the evidence.
• Lead in collating information for Macmillan Service Reviews in order to drive service improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Surveillance Programme measures including annual report and operational policy.
• Actively participate in multi-professional meetings, acting as patient advocate and represent nursing views.
• Make sure that people affected by cancer are aware about the full range of resources and services available through Macmillan.
• Actively engage with Macmillan Cancer Support to contribute expertise and experience and support the Macmillan Strategy.
• Lead in the development of patient focussed education, including training to self-manage ongoing consequences of treatment.
• Active involvement in the performance management of cancer targets to ensure patients have prompt access to diagnostics and cancer treatments.
