Description Are you passionate about providing expert HR advice and support while managing casework related to HR policy, employee lifecycle, wellbeing, and conduct? This is an exciting opportunity to join the HR People Advice Team as a HR People Adviser, playing a key role in supporting the Scottish Government’s commitment to becoming a world-leading, diverse employer where people can be themselves at work. The HR People Advice Team focus on wellbeing and inclusion, providing fair, reliable, and timely support for various HR issues. The main goal of the team, consisting of around 30 staff, is to create a positive employee experience by applying policies effectively and consistently, considering individual circumstances, and upholding the Fair Work principles and SG’s values, while working to resolve issues quickly and build capacity across the organisation. Responsibilities Responsibilities Provide advice and support to managers and staff at all levels on HR informal and formal matters, including performance management, sickness absence, conduct, discipline, grievance and job grading. Be the first point of contact for managers and staff. Assist the HR Senior Adviser with discipline and grievance cases by making initial assessments about a case, appointing Investigating, Deciding and Appeal Officers, arranging panel hearings and note taking. Manage casework for probationers and take forward HR processes where there are concerns about conduct, attendance or performance. Manage casework for intermittent and long-term sickness absence, supporting individuals and managers with workplace adjustments, consulting with Occupational Health or external experts, holding attendance meetings, and making decisions on appropriate actions, while seeking advice from HR policy and legal colleagues when necessary. Provide advice on and complete Job Grading evaluations. Manage and supervise an HR People Advice Administrator, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Qualifications Qualifications CIPD qualified (Level 5) or willing to work towards qualification. Success Profile Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on. Experience: Experience in working with HR and employment policy, and proving advice to customers in line with organisational policies and practices. Behaviours: Making Effective Decisions – Level 2.
