Job summary The Consultant in Gastroenterology is responsible for providing expert care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. This includes leading endoscopy services, inpatient and outpatient care, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves participation in research, medical education, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Right to work in the UK Six months NHS Experience paid UK experience as a doctor within the last 2 years GMC Full licence to practice Gastroenterology Experience Satisfactory completion of previous posts providing professional training in Gastroenterology Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology and General (Internal) Medicine or equivalent. MRCPCH or MRCP or show evidence of equivalent training and experience Entry onto the Specialist Register or a Specialist Registrar within 6 months of the award of their CCT in Gastroenterology of the date of interview Desirable Must be able to demonstrate that they have achieved the BSG endoscopy quality standards relating to diagnostic and therapeutic Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. E.g., JAG accreditation or equivalent for these procedures. Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) (desirable).
