Job Description
Our clients are looking for a Senior Professional Indemnity Development Underwriter with at least 5 years underwriting experience to help themgrow theirProfessions book. This is a hybrid role - working 3 days in London, Manchester or Birmingham or seeing Brokers, 2 days at home.
You will be working for an established team within an Insurance Company, this role focuses on providing cover for professions to include accountants, architects& design companies. The majority of the book is written on a primary basis and introduced by a broker panel. Premium spend is in the £10-20k, albeit some cases can be larger. The team have an additional headcount and are looking to recruit an underwriter who is technically competent and has good Broker connections.
As a Senior Development Underwriter,you will work with senior members ofthe team to set and implement strategy for Professions. You will be responsible for writingnew and renewal business, interacting and collaborating with a team of regional or productcolleagues and other business associates to attract new business, retain existing customers,and explore new areas of business. Using your previous experience writing similar business,you will also act as a local expert and role model for other team members, actively coachingand mentoring other Development Underwriters.
What Will You Do?
Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
Make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority in addition toconsidered, intelligent, and complete recommendations to regional or productunderwriting leadership.
Consistent with TICL underwriting principles underwrite more complexaccounts and risks and consider different approaches toward risks tomaximise profitability (e.g., pricing, retention, endorsements, limits, indemnity,security).
Make prompt, sound decisions within underwriting authority and based onappropriate underwriting information. Negotiate terms and conditionsconsistent with regional or product underwriting requirements and standardswithin submission timeframe.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
University degree and/or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) AdvancedCertification or Diploma preferred.
General knowledge of industry business operations and work methods,critical business issues and financial drivers that affect the Line of Business.
General knowledge of the local insurance marketplace and effectively usesthat knowledge to the Company's advantage; continuously seeks out localmarket insight.
