Your Role as a Food Technology Teacher: Deliver Engaging Food Tech Lessons – Plan and deliver creative and hands-on food technology lessons, ensuring they are accessible and enjoyable for students with a range of special educational needs. Adapt Lessons for SEN Students – Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other SEN, providing them with the tools they need to succeed. Promote Life Skills Development – Help students develop essential life skills, such as cooking, food safety, budgeting, and nutrition, to support their independence and well-being. Foster a Positive & Inclusive Learning Environment – Create a safe and supportive atmosphere where students feel confident to try new things and make mistakes in a constructive way. Collaborate with Support Staff – Work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to implement individual learning plans (IEPs) and provide tailored support to meet each student’s needs. Monitor Progress & Provide Feedback – Track student progress, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and staff, and helping them achieve their full potential in food technology.
