Job Title: Assistant Head of Education Location: Minehead, Somerset Salary: £47,185 - £48,366 per annum Contract: Full time, Permanent Teaching Personnel Permanent Workforce team are currently partnered with a UK wide SEN Trust who we are helping with recruiting a permanent Assistant Head Teacher to join a thriving community in the new academic year. The school are a highly respected and valued institue of the area, working with students with severe and specific learning difficulties. As our Assistant Head of Education you will work with the Principal & Head of Education in all aspects of leadership and management and to take responsibility for managing and developing learning and teaching, curriculum and assessment. You will play a key role in assisting the Principal & Head of Education to develop our college in accordance with its shared values and our college development plans. Key Duties : Play a key role in the overall smooth running of the college. Spend up to 0.2 of post (to be directed by the Head of Education) of working time classroom based demonstrating and modelling good practice, and ensuring ‘quality teaching first’. Lead by example of his/her practice, and by positively encouraging, coaching and mentoring and supporting training and development for all members of the team. Take lead responsibility for ensuring the best possible curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress and achievement for all student especially through enrichment, creative learning, extended services, partnerships and collaboration. Work with the Principal and Head of Education to ensure that the college offers a high quality, exciting, engaging, well resourced, differentiated and well matched curriculum for all students. Requirements : Recognised teacher training qualification – Cert Ed. / PGCE / QTS or QTLS / Diploma in Teaching SENCO qualification (desirable) Management/leadership qualification (desirable) Proven track record with and experience of assessment processes Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within a special needs environment. Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
