General Practitioner with Extended Role (GPwER)
We are looking for a motivated and innovative GP to join our Specialist Tier 3 Weight Management Team. The Specialist Weight Management Service provides evidence-based, individualised, high-quality holistic treatment to patients within the communities it serves.
The role may suit a General Practitioner with a specialist interest in obesity and relevant experience providing treatment for patients living with obesity.
The successful applicant will have a comprehensive understanding of the complex needs of obese individuals, associated co-morbidity management, and treatment options. The role involves being the clinical lead for the service and working as an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, alongside specialists in psychological wellbeing, dietetics, and physical activity.
The role includes assessment of patients' stage of obesity, associated causal factors, medical presentation/symptoms, co-morbidity management, and recommendations for treatment.
Main duties of the job
You will be based in the vibrant, cultural city of Hull which is continuing to thrive and grow after being awarded City of Culture in 2017. The post will be based at Marfleet Health Centre in Hull; however, the successful applicant will also be expected to work from various other bases across the city.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full and current unrestricted GMC (UK) registration on the GP Register
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge of all the latest guidelines and evidence in weight management
* Understand the importance of evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness
* Understanding of clinical governance and sound clinical knowledge
* Ability to use evidence-based and clinical audit to support decision-making
* Experience of SystmOne, Emis, and Lorenzo clinical systems
Experience
* Post-GMC registration training in weight management
* 3 years or more post GP specialist registration experience (Developmental opportunity if less than 3 years specialist registration)
* Experience of supervising clinical staff to ensure clinical standards are met
* Experience of continuing professional development
* Evidence of attendance at courses or self-directed learning to meet learning gaps identified through the professional development plan and through annual appraisal
* Experience of conducting clinical audit
* Experience of designing, organising, teaching, and training healthcare professionals and teaching patients
