The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a position in Public Protection for a Regulatory Compliance Officer, working within the Licensing and Waste Enforcement Team, responding to, investigating and resolving complaints relating primarily to Licensing and Waste.
This post requires excellent knowledge of relevant legislation relating to licensing and waste enforcement.
The post involves ensuring compliance with the conditions and legislation associated with all types of licences granted by Licensing. These include private hire and hackney carriage, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, street trading, scrap metal and animal welfare.
Duties will include undertaking investigations and investigating complaints covering a diverse range of statutory duties representing the Council at licensing panel meetings and court hearings.
Principal duties are dealing with complaints, carrying out inspection visits, conducting criminal investigations in accordance with PACE, RIPA, Human Rights Act, including gathering evidence, taking statements, conducting tape recorded interviews and giving evidence at Licensing Speaker’s Panel Hearings and Court
About You
You will be an excellent communicator, skilled in partnership working and working with a diverse range of partners to achieve common goals. You will be a strong team player, customer focused, highly motivated and flexible.
You will have practical experience of enforcing legislation within a local authority and have full understanding of the practicalities of carrying out compliance and enforcement work.
You should also be familiar with Quality systems and have a good working knowledge of a range of IT packages including Word, Exel and UniForm.
