Main duties of the job
1. Developing and implementing IT strategies to support our organisational goals.
2. Managing digital projects from conception to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
3. Providing expert advice on emerging technologies and digital trends.
4. Leading special projects within the organization, driving innovation and excellence.
5. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective project delivery.
6. Supporting our NHSE bids and project delivery efforts to generate revenue for the organisation.
To excel in this role, you should have:
1. Proven experience in IT and digital leadership roles.
2. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

5. Knowledge of healthcare IT systems and regulations (desirable).

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead Pier Health Group's Digital and IT department, overseeing strategy, development, coordination, and management of IT projects and programs, as well as supporting non-IT projects. Responsibilities include contract and third-party management, system deployments, and IT services. They will ensure compliance with national and statutory requirements and drive innovation to meet clinical needs. The role focuses on maintaining high service quality, cost-effectiveness, and governance. Collaboration with clinicians is vital to implement digital solutions effectively.
This is a role with 3 dimensions: Digital, IT, and Operational Projects. The Digital aspect drives our focus and digital framework delivery from the Integrated Care System and Central Support Unit with a clear focus on actionable delivery cycles. The IT aspect ensures alignment with the CSU and ICS and provides tactical day-to-day IT support for our group and PHGL. The Operational Project aspect encompasses programme and management (non-IT or IT related), requiring a high-performing multi-faceted individual in this role.
Support governance and drive quality improvement:
1. Scope user requirements to ensure specification and design meet the overall organisational objectives and expectations.
2. Create a high-quality learning environment and culture, working closely with our digital partners within our PCN.
3. Deliver against the board's strategic objectives on Innovation.
4. Work directly with users designing and implementing solutions using standard methodology to create repeatable, on-time, on-quality integration implementations driven at the national level from NHSE.
5. Represent Pier Health Group to bid for projects which will bring in revenue.
6. Lead ICS-led operations into delivery and actionable propositions.
7. Lead and participate in local and regional meetings and events, as appropriate or other activities relevant to the role supporting and promoting Pier Health Group.
8. Advise on best practice for system developments and advocate for user experience to be at the heart of everything we do.
9. Maintain and evolve web-based applications and solutions as identified by the services and management.
10. Follow up post-project activities to ensure that business-as-usual handover processes are operating effectively.
11. Lead IT projects and manage staff, contracts, and documentation.
12. Ensure compliance with NHS guidelines and advise senior management on IT matters.
13. Provide expertise in web and new media technologies and resolve user and technical issues.
14. Develop policies, manage IT systems, and present developments to staff.
15. Conduct user acceptance testing and ensure information handling complies with governance principles and legal obligations.
16. Investigate IT problems and interpret complex information for managers and clinical staff.
17. Research new solutions and present recommendations for funding decisions.
18. Administer consultations, identify service improvement opportunities, and ensure successful deployment of integration products.
19. Support third-party applications, recommend new software, and review system performance.
20. Manage equipment purchases, maintain web content, and lead IT operations.
Operations Special Projects Responsibilities
1. Advise on project liabilities in case of contractual issues.
2. Coordinate group approval processes for compliance.
3. Represent the group in collaborations with local councils and healthcare agencies.
4. Develop and implement strategic objectives for Special Projects.
5. Provide support on policy formulation and implementation.
6. Ensure projects meet specifications, timelines, and budget. Offer policy guidance to design teams.
7. Establish project management and reporting systems, including risk management.
8. Utilize electronic project databases for management.
9. Coordinate project staff workload and foster a participatory culture.
10. Ensure compliance with Data Protection Act and board policies.
11. Support NHSE bids and project delivery to generate revenue for Pier Health Group PCN.
