Wolfson College, University of Oxford
Oxford
£60,000 -£65,000 + USS pension
Picture your new office.
North of town, nestled on the banks of the River Cherwell, Wolfson College’s Grade II-listed campus is surrounded by 13 acres of stunning countryside and gardens. It offers a uniquely natural setting while still benefiting from Oxford’s world-renowned academic environment. From mature trees to vibrant summer blooms, the landscape is ever-changing, you might even spot an otter or two.
And even rarer than an otter, is the offer of a parking space in Oxford.
Wolfson College was founded as a radical act in a radical decade. The technological, social, and geopolitical shifts of the 1960s demanded that universities play a greater role in research and innovation. Wolfson was one of the first institutions created to meet these new demands, providing a home for graduate researchers to work among like-minded individuals.
Fast forward to today, and Wolfson continues to lead the way. If sustainability matters to you, you’ll be proud to know that Wolfson became the first net-zero Higher Education Institution in the UK following a multi-award-winning decarbonisation project in 2023, cutting 100% of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The journey doesn’t stop there.
As Director of Estates & Facilities, you’ll play a key role in shaping the College’s next chapter. Working closely with the Bursar, you’ll be responsible for the management and upkeep of the College’s estate, covering health and safety, compliance, maintenance, refurbishment, and new works projects. Events and catering sit under a different team.
With the support of five direct reports, you’ll bring both operational expertise and strategic vision to the role.
If you’re not currently working in the education sector, don’t let that hold you back. If you have a proven track record of managing complex estates & facilities teams and are ready for your next step, we’d like to hear from you.
In return, you'll enjoy 31 days of holiday, plus bank holidays, a complimentary lunch, flexibility around hours, and access to the fantastic USS pension plan, contributing over 20%. This role offers not only immediate rewards but also long-term benefits
Here’s your chance to work in a truly unique institution, one that values innovation, sustainability, and academic excellence.
