Job Description NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally. In partnership with the MOD, NATS deliver Air Traffic Control services at six Military Airfields (Barkston Heath, Gibraltar, Middle Wallop, Netheravon, Wattisham and Woodvale). The Operational Support Staff Manager (OSSM) at Gibraltar Airport, will oversee safe and efficient support team delivery including the Airfield Medical Response (AMR) team, to ensure operational excellence. The Senior/Manager must be qualified to perform all tasks required and hold advanced medical and incident management qualifications. Other duties include: Leadership and Management: Lead, manage, and oversee Support team and ensure compliance with all operational and safety procedures Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations Administration of Support Staff Rosters and Leave Quality assurance activities to support unit compliance Operational Responsibilities: Emergency Medical Technician services Airfield Wildlife Control (AWC) services Operational assistance to Aerodrome Control ATCO Airside driving Receiving and actioning flight plans/NOTAMs/flight progress strips Slot monitoring and coordination with the Central Flow Management Unit (CFMU) Maintaining operational statistics databases and reporting Medical Response: Responsible for the provision and management of the Airfield Medical Response (AMR) team Ensure all team members are trained and certified for emergency medical response Maintain personal qualifications in FREC (First Response Emergency Care) 4 and MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support) Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate effectively at all levels ensuring strong relationships Chair internal meetings and attend external stakeholder meetings and events Liaise with the SATCO (Senior Air Traffic Control Officer) to ensure seamless operations Compliance and Reporting: Ensure operational activities comply with regulatory and safety standards Prepare and present reports on operational performance and safety metrics A combination of leadership, operational expertise, and advanced medical qualifications to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency Essential Skills and experience: Proven leadership and management experience in an operational or safety-related environment Qualified or capable of obtaining qualifications in FREC 4 and MIMMS High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, with specific abilities tested at the interview stage Excellent literacy and numeracy skills Strong team player with flexibility to meet various working demands Effective communicator at all organisational levels and with external customers Valid clean driving license Desirable Skills: Prior experience working at an airfield or in a similar safety-related environment. Previous qualifications in FPOS (I)/FREC 3 or similar First Aid training.
