As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in leading and shaping the Occupational Therapy service at the Langford Centre, a 76-bedded mental health hospital in Bexhill-on-Sea.
You will provide specialist assessments and develop tailored interventions using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as a framework. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the highest standards of therapeutic care are delivered to our service users.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist role will include:
* Managing a complex caseload of inpatients with mental illness, forensic histories, and/or behaviours that challenge.
* Carrying out comprehensive assessments of daily living activities to determine each patients level of functioning.
* Developing and delivering effective individual and group Occupational Therapy interventions tailored to patient needs.
* Leading the planning, facilitation, and evaluation of the group OT programme within the service.
* Acting as a consultant in planning and delivering ward-based activity programmes to promote engagement and recovery.
* Providing both ward-based and community-based OT interventions to enhance social inclusion and rehabilitation.
* Evaluating the effectiveness of OT treatments and ensuring outcome measures are recorded accurately.
* Taking on the role of vocational lead within the hospital, supporting service users in work-related activities.
* Providing clinical and managerial supervision to the wider OT team, including Technical Instructors.
* Assisting with stock-taking and ordering required items for the OT department.
* Building knowledge of local community resources available for individuals with severe mental illness.
You Will Need To:
* Be a registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC.
* Have previous experience as an OT in mental health, forensic, or hospital settings.
* Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
