Job Description
Client has an open position for a Senior /Research Associate Scientist to perform drug metabolism/metabolite identification studies supporting a series of small molecule drug discovery projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting in vitro metID studies, processing the data, and interpreting MS/MS results. It is a fully drug metabolism laboratory-based role. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have practical hands-on experience performing in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, structure elucidation/identification, fit-for purpose analytical method development including cross-species metabolite profiling.
Responsibilities
This role is fully lab based. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Perform routine soft-spot identification studies and investigational vitro studies to address specific DMPK questions in drug discovery from lead optimization to candidate selection processes.
2. Develop a series of analytical methods using a mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS) to separate and detect small molecules.
3. Conduct in-depth analysis of Thermo Exploris 240/ QE LCMS/MS data by using Chemdraw, MassFrontier, Compound Discoverer, Webmetabase platform.
4. Assume responsibility for maintaining laboratory equipment and maintain clear, detailed, and up-to-date experimental records.
5. Prepare and deliver scientific presentations and reports to communicate research results within and outside the DMPK department.
6. Conduct other duties as assigned.
7. Maximize the experience at one of the best places to work environment, with opportunities to network and learn from other professionals in adjacent fields.

1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related field with at least five years of hands-on, relevant drug metabolism/met ID lab experience working with a mass spectrometer. Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry with at least 3 years of experience.
2. Hands-on lab experience performing metabolic stability, CYP inhibition, and metabolite ID studies in liver subcellular fractions and hepatocytes preparing and analyzing samples from in vivo biological matrices using a mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS).
3. Strong consideration will be given to candidates proficient in using and troubleshooting a LC-MS/MS Thermo Exploris 240/ QE instrumentation, and handling Compound Discoverer or Webmetabase is a plus.
4. Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, problem solving ability, and capable of independently planning and executing experiments while proactively seeking out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems.
5. Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a desire to learn and tackle new challenges.
