Position: NPI Engineer
Location: Aldershot
The NPI Engineer will be a key position in our engineering team, supporting the technical daily functions in relation to process control and process engineering within our PCB manufacturing environment. We are seeking an experienced engineer from within the electronics sector, with deep knowledge of the PCB assembly process and IPC-610 and/or JSTD-001 standards.
We work with a wide variety of leading OEMs and technology-focused customers across 20 different sectors. Our ultra-modern factory is configured to produce complex hardware for NPI to medium batch series production of PCBA assemblies and finished product assembly and test.
Responsibilities:
* Act as the process owner and key gate for enacting new orders.
* Develop a robust process for DFM/DFX.
* Review SOW’s within the bid/quote engineering phase.
* Define the technical process flow and operations at granular level with a review and verification process.
* Produce technical instructions to support the production process.
* Create, propose and instigate tooling to support the production process.
* Work closely with our production, planning and quality teams to successfully execute NPI/production orders.
* Support the research and implementation of new manufacturing and process techniques, including capital equipment.
* Interface with customers to plan and implement new processes, such as ICT/production test.
Qualifications & Competencies:
* Experience in process controls and best practices for PCBA production.
* Knowledge of ICT and functional testing.
* Knowledge of IPC standards.
* Experience with process flow, creating work instructions and relevant documentation.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent organisation, proactivity, task ownership, and self-discipline.
* Ability to communicate effectively across internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
* Ability to track critical tasks and work to defined timelines.
* Desirable – Lean 6 Sigma.
* Desirable – Familiar with TQM and continuous improvement environments.
* Desirable – Experience with AS9100 standards.
