Senior Commercial Manager

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to manage complex commercial arrangements and negotiations during the pre-signature phase of our high-value contracts within public sector. If you have a strong background in commercial management, procurement, and contract negotiations within IT/Software/Financial Services this is your chance to make a significant impact in the IT & Outsourcing sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that each commercial sales transaction is contracted on terms which conform to the clients global contract policy, maximises potential revenue, and business benefit whilst minimizing risk.
* Where required, use the Commercial Playbook to approve contract changes or escalate for approval any proposed variations from the clients global contracting policy.
* Work with Finance, Legal and Strategic Pricing to ensure adherence to deal and risk governance processes and policies.
* Share knowledge, develop & grow commercial and contractual expertise across the relevant business units and verticals.
* Actively promote change management projects pursued by the Director Commercial Management and contribute to their design and development. Take ownership of implementation and rollout of elements within the team and across the business.
* Negotiate sales transactions directly with client procurement and legal representatives to ensure the business only takes acceptable risk and contracts on appropriate legal and commercial terms. Where required take a leadership role to steer the negotiation through to a conclusion.
* As needed, provide consultative advice on all contract and commercial matters to sales and account managers as well as to product, technical and delivery teams.
* Scrutinise commercial terms to ensure they look appropriate and workable and push back to internal stakeholders where risks are evident, or ambiguity could lead to errors and lost revenue.
* Working with internal stakeholders, develop appropriate contract schedules for new products and deals as required. Actively use experience and knowledge to check that assumptions are correct.
* Provide advice to sales and account managers on commercial practices and procedures.
* Support the implementation of procedures on contractual governance and contract management and support compliance with the clients policies and governance processes.
* Sign contracts on behalf of the client in accordance with the Contract Authority Matrix (UK based employees only).
* Lead by example; adhere to all processes requirements, contracting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements. Through the adoption of a top down approach, demonstrate a culture where all of our people understand their commercial management obligations.
* Use SalesForce and SSRs (Sales Support Request) to manage the support requests made upon the team and utilise the system in order to effectively manage and prioritise workflow.
* Team management Essential Duties and Responsibilities (25% of time): Deliver the services of the Commercial Management function to the business through a team of Commercial Managers, Commercial Contract Analysts and Commercial Contracts Specialist reporting to this role.
* Ensure that the team has a defined structure and each person has clear areas of responsibility.
* Allocate tasks at an appropriate level of detail to ensure that all team members are fully utilised at all times.
* Set each team member relevant and achievable goals which are reviewed on a periodic basis.
* Ensure that each person in the team has a training and development plan.
* Provide support and counselling to the team members on commercial matters and act as their focal point for finding information to address their daily tasks and challenges.
* Ensure that the team members are fully conversant with the required commercial processes and that they are rigorously followed at all times.
* Support the team if required as they ensure compliance to processes by sales teams in their areas of responsibility.
