Mpeople Recruitment are assisting in the recruitment of an HR Manager for an international manufacturing company, based on site at Helsby. You will be part of a group of companies operating globally, renowned in their industry, whose products are designed and developed at each site. The HR Manager will initially work across 2 sites with the potential to expand the remit across other UK group businesses. This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with flexibility to accommodate 25-30 hours over a 4-day week). This is an onsite role, and you will be expected to be onsite Monday to Friday (with the option of occasional working from home).
HR Manager Duties:
1. Provide HR generalist expertise as part of the Senior Management team, working closely with Managers on all aspects of HR.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR department.
3. Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
4. Manage recruitment and selection processes, working closely with Managers.
5. Prepare offer letters and contracts, obtain references, conduct eligibility to work in the UK checks, and coordinate the administration of the new starter process, ensuring all relevant documentation is returned.
6. Keep abreast of developments in employment legislation and ensure managers are appropriately briefed on relevant changes.
7. Drive best practices and ensure compliance with all group procedures, policies, and employment legislation.
8. Act as an advisor to both employees and Management, addressing employee concerns and managing disciplinary actions with fairness and discretion.
9. Prepare and accurately document employee investigations, ensuring best practices are followed and processes are completed timely.
10. Oversee appraisal processes and assist managers in driving high performance.
11. Schedule staff reviews for the first 3 months of employment, prepare assessment criteria, and ensure reviews reflect feedback.
12. Coordinate training and development programs with the Senior Management team.
13. Foster a positive working environment and promote company values.
14. Adhere to GDPR and maintain integrity and confidentiality at all times.
HR Manager Requirements:
1. Previous experience in a HR Manager role or looking to take the next step into Management in a growing business, ideally within manufacturing (other transferable industries will be considered).
2. Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel as needed.
3. CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve challenging situations while ensuring compliance with company procedures.
5. Experience working collaboratively with all levels of a business, building confidence in managers to take ownership of HR issues.
6. Analytical skills and comfort with monthly reporting and managing HR systems.
7. Flexibility in approach to work and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
8. Experience coaching Managers in delivering HR-related activities.
9. Hands-on approach with administration while thinking operationally and strategically.
10. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
11. Up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation.
12. Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
