I am currently assisting a leading Tier 1 Contractor, who are looking to recruit an experienced MEP Planner to work on a large-scale new build prison project in Devon. The role offers the chance to work on a high-profile project while providing an excellent opportunity for career growth within a range of future projects including Commercial, Residential, Education, Life Science, and Custodial schemes across the UK.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing MEP works, ensuring that sub-contractor programmes align with the master programme using ASTA Powerproject and that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
This role is open to both Intermediate and Senior-level planners with substantial experience managing MEP packages on large-scale construction projects in the UK, specifically in line with the NEC form of contract. The contractor offers flexibility with 3 days spent on-site in Devon and the remainder of the time working remotely. Accommodation for the Planner will be provided during their time in Devon.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain comprehensive MEP programme for the new build prison project using ASTA Powerproject software, ensuring that all activities are planned effectively and align with the overall project timeline.
* Manage and update the master programme, integrating sub-contractor schedules and ensuring their activities are aligned with the project's critical path.
* Oversee and monitor the progress of sub-contractor programmes, addressing any issues or delays to ensure timely completion of MEP works.
* Ensure that all programmes comply with the requirements of the NEC form of contract, including risk management, time management, and reporting.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials and resources for MEP works.
* Work alongside the project team to identify and mitigate any programme conflicts or delays, ensuring the project stays on track.
* Contribute to the management of project risks by assessing potential delays and recommending mitigation strategies.
* Attend regular project meetings to review the progress of MEP works, resolve programme issues, and adjust timelines as necessary.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as an MEP Planner in large-scale construction projects, with a strong background in managing MEP packages for complex builds in the UK.
* Strong proficiency in ASTA Powerproject, with experience developing and managing detailed project programmes.
* Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and processes, particularly in large construction projects.
* Experience working with the NEC form of contract and a solid understanding of its implications on scheduling, cost control, and project delivery.
* Proven ability to manage sub-contractor programmes and ensure that all schedules are integrated into the master programme.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
* ASTA Powerproject experience.
* A relevant degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred, but not essential.
