We’re looking for a Paralegal to join us at our Business Centre in Bradford. This is hybrid working – 2 days in the office, 3 days remote. The role sits within Legal Operations which is responsible for handling claims made on behalf of the various consumer brands as well as defending claims made against them. You would be working teams alongside a number of teams within Legal Operations, supporting with a range of administrative functions such as setting up new cases, processing initial notification letters and payments processing. You will also support on providing insight for improvements which includes review of opportunities for automation and AI. Your main focus will be setting up new cases where we intend to pursue a claim against a third-party, or when we receive claims against a number of our consumer brands where we are instructed to investigate and defend them. You will be expected to gain a thorough understanding of our internal claims processes from inception to conclusion on a number of different work areas we practice in. What will you be doing? Handle your own high volume and fast-paced portfolio of pre-litigated claims. Work with the legal team to set up, convert and progress new claims and keep existing claims up to date. Carry out all initial administrative actions on a range of claims covering different work areas within the Department. Engage with a number of internal and external databases to carry out initial investigations and diligence checks. Ensure compliance with payment process in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Support research projects undertaking legal research using specialised data sources. Design and test various automation solutions with business partners across Legal Operations and the wider Shared Service Centre. Draft and communicate with care and skill to uphold the professional image of the Legal Operations Department. We tend to look for people with: Essential: Degree level education OR relevant qualifications OR good commercial experience Knowledge of law and experience of case handling Listens to and understands stakeholders requirements Good negotiating skills A keen eye for detail An enthusiastic approach Desirable: Previous experience in a Law firm in a Paralegal (or similar) role Experience of low value cases Knowledge of the Electronic Communications Code or a willingness to learn.
