Due to consistent and extensive growth, I am delighted to be partnering with a global manufacturer in the automotive sector, seeking to strengthen their quality function with a highly experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to manage Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities with EMEA suppliers. This role requires frequent travel across the UK and mainland Europe, so a valid passport or visa is essential. Initial travel is anticipated to be extensive as you on-board new suppliers, thereafter it is anticipated to be 25% of your time.
As the newly appointed Supplier Quality Engineer, you will:
You will be a proactive, self-starting SQE, that gets results, and makes things happen. You will seamlessly build internal and external relationships, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve collective objectives. Being a confident decision maker is key, in addition to the ability to create compelling arguments and fact-based business cases to get results. Strong analytical skills, using data evidence when required, particularly as part of the systematic investigation process. Advanced expertise in APQP, and the ability to lead technical quality planning and strategy, and guide application of quality system standards. Previous experience leading supplier quality management is essential, and you must be able to demonstrate experience of forming collaborative relationships in the process.
Additionally, you will:
* Participate in the supplier evaluation, selection, and the strategic sourcing development process.
* Assist in the supplier corrective action process, including containment, root cause investigation, and corrective action.
* Ensure suppliers effectively use quality tools.
* Collaborate with suppliers to meet all product requirements.
* Review supplier quality resources for new product introductions and current products to reduce issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.
* Determine if all requirements are met by suppliers for new or changed products.
* Measure supplier quality performance and drive improvements to meet established targets.
* Facilitate continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.
To be successful in your application, you must have:
* First class understanding of the Product Parts Approval Process (PPAP).
* Exposure to the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).
* Experience with Supplier Quality Core Tools.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience in a supplier facing role.
* Able to travel extensively across the UK and EU.
* Have the right to work in the UK for at least the next 2 years.
* First class communication skills, written and verbal fluency with English.
* College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical/scientific subject.
* Industry-specific experience will be considered in the absence of a degree or formal qualification.
What's in it for you?
You'll be joining a highly sought after manufacturer in the automotive sector that has benefitted from consistent and persistent growth. Initially, the contract would run for 12 months. However, it is expected to be extended for a further 12 months thereafter. This is an autonomous position with travel across the EU. The hourly rate is c£30ph PAYE + all expenses, hotels, travel, subsistence etc. An immediate start is available for the right individual.
