Engineering ¦ Civils, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire (or Castle Donnington, East Midlands) We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to become an integral part of our engineering team. In this role, you will work on a variety of engineering projects for key clients, including the Environment Agency and the Canals & Rivers Trust, focusing on asset maintenance and repairs across civils, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines nationwide. About The Business Unit Our engineering business unit is dynamic and fast-paced, involving a wide range of engineering works for various clients. We specialise in engineering maintenance and infrastructure projects across a portfolio that encompasses civil engineering, E&P (rail), mechanical & electrical systems, and highways framework projects throughout the UK. Role Overview As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be a key member of the commercial team, supporting Commercial Managers and operational delivery teams in managing the commercial aspects of multiple engineering projects. Your main focus will be on framework contracts for both the Canals & Rivers Trust and the Environment Agency across the North West and Wessex regions. Key Responsibilities Manage the commercial aspects of multiple sites to ensure timely delivery within budget constraints. Accurately prepare and submit pricing estimates, ensuring adherence to deadlines. Address and resolve pricing issues in collaboration with clients. Maintain effective client communication and relationships. Work closely with Site Managers to gather information on daily operations. Oversee subcontractor management and coordinate their activities. Manage changes to contracts and provide early warnings as necessary. Administer contracts (NEC/NR forms) efficiently. Prepare Cost Value Reports (CVRs) and handle final accounts. Liaise with clients on all commercial matters and ensure proper documentation is prepared and submitted. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience: Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, or a progressive Quantity Surveyor ready for the next step in their career. Multi-disciplinary experience across engineering sectors including civils, rail, and mechanical & electrical (M&E) projects or maintenance works. A degree qualification and membership with RICS or ICES (or equivalent experience). Experience in a contracting environment. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team management skills. What We Offer Competitive Annual Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
