Mechanical Design Engineer Special Purpose Machinery Design using Autodesk Inventor. Salary: Up to £50,000 per year, depending on experience Permanent, Office based position at the client site. Established leader in processing equipment and solutions for the food processing / packaging manufacturing industry requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to work within the design team on their comprehensive range of equipment that they manufacture. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating 3D and 2D designs of special purpose, automated machinery using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Work within the design team on the comprehensive range of equipment that they design and Develop and design innovative engineering solutions for various projects. Create detailed technical drawings and specifications using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and functionality. Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Participate in project planning and provide accurate time and cost estimates. Continuously improve design processes and methodologies. Deal directly with suppliers to obtain prices and delivery times. Required Qualifications, Skills: Mechanical Engineering qualification or a related field. Significant experience in engineering design. Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Preferred Experience: Previous shop floor "hands on" experience; Machining, Welding, Fabrication, or 'Time served Apprentice' etc. Experience with design work carried out on food machinery and systems. Any working knowledge of steam systems and energy calculations, fluid systems, pumps and pipe work, pneumatics, stress calculations, sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications, sheet metal development, and tolerance of machined parts. Salary: Competitive salary, up to £50,000 per year, depending on experience. Working Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Overtime is sometimes available.
