Job Advert: Multi-Skilled Field Service Engineer
Location: Flexible - candidates can be based in the South of the UK, ideally along the M4 or M5 corridors. Travel to Hampshire required for parts collection and workshop duties, with site-based work across the UK.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on skills and experience.
Hours: Full-time (core hours: 8am to 4:30pm, Mon to Fri), with overtime available.
The Role:
This exciting opportunity is for a Multi-Skilled Field Service Engineer to join a well-established company specializing in the service, repair, and maintenance of pumps, centrifuges, and high-speed rotating equipment. The role will involve:
1. Installing and maintaining a wide range of mobile processing equipment on client sites.
2. Conducting regular servicing of pumps, centrifuges, and related equipment for both the company and its customers.
3. Responding quickly to breakdowns and performing mechanical and electrical repairs.
4. Completing workshop-based repairs and servicing as required.
5. Documenting and conducting compliance checks, such as Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR).
6. Supporting sales teams with technical site surveys.
7. Supervising subcontractors and providing on-site training where necessary.
8. Preparing risk assessments and method statements for jobs.
9. Traveling across the UK to client sites, with occasional international work.
10. Participating in an on-call rota and occasional weekend shifts.
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a skilled and experienced engineer who meets the following criteria:
1. Electrical or mechanical engineering background, with formal training or an apprenticeship.
2. Ideally certified to the 18th Edition wiring regulations (NICEIC or equivalent).
3. Familiarity with PLC controls, Star/Delta configurations, and inverter motor drives (up to 130 kW).
4. Background in the water treatment, process, or manufacturing industries is highly desirable.
5. Strong knowledge of industrial installation and control systems.
6. Proficient in using software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
7. Confident in producing detailed service reports and documentation.
8. Flexible approach to work, with a willingness to travel and stay overnight near job sites when necessary.
9. Strong interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
10. Holds a valid driving license with no major endorsements.
