Esher Green Surgery, a part of Bourne Health, is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Lead Nurse to work as part of our healthcare team.
Main Duties of the Job
The following are the core responsibilities of the Lead Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Act as the Practice Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and work to the IPC Policy providing audits, training, support, and evidence of compliance.
2. Assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence-based practice.
3. Develop, implement, embed and train colleagues where required on health promotion and wellbeing programmes.
4. Ensure adequate skills coverage within the nursing team, providing or organizing training where required to meet the needs of the practice population.
5. Cultivate a culture within the nursing team of identifying, managing and supporting patients at risk of developing long-term conditions.
6. Provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE, and the NSF, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions as required.
7. Ensure the practice is compliant and up to date with all PGDs and PSDs, maintaining a register and updating it.
8. Work with the Senior Management Team and Partners to develop, set up or amend clinics as required.
9. Lead on and supervise the accurate recording of consultations within patient records within the nursing team.
10. Ensure read codes are used effectively by all members of the nursing team, providing training where required.
11. Implement well-organized and efficient vaccination programmes for adults and children.
12. Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately ensuring safe practice.
13. Be a proactive member of the practice clinical team, offering clinical perspectives in decision making.
14. Develop and review audit protocols and processes for the practice.
15. Coordinate the nursing team rota, ensuring sufficient staff are available to meet patient needs.
16. Process annual leave requests and arrange appropriate cover.
17. Complete Return to Work interviews and staff reviews including annual appraisals.
18. Organize Nurse PLTs, maximizing the time for learning and maintenance of skills.
19. Monitor and maintain nurse/HCA/Phlebotomy appointment capacity to meet the needs of the practice.
