What we need The Technical Resource Manager works closely with the Lead & Senior Technical Manager across Sports Production TV Operations, Sound and Resourcing to ensuring continuity and quality of output. The role is across the daily Sports output as well as related projects and Sports events. What we need you to do Work with Picture Shop and BBC Staff to ensure that the studio and technical facilities are fully operational for the live broadcast environment. Think pro-active and be reactive - with the aim of preventing problems occurring. Be a point of reference for management and BBC Sport Production for craft, technical and safety issues. Ability to assess a situation and make timely decisions appropriate to address the issue for the direct benefit of any activity concerned. Experience in logging and managing incidents in an operational environment, manage typical live transmission challenges whilst ensuring operational good practice. Familiarity with using a range of diagnostic and monitoring tools. Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, external providers, clients and internal partners, including senior stakeholders in an appropriate manner and format for the situation. Troubleshoot and diagnose defects in complex systems with an appreciation of their real-world impact. Able to maintain and enhance supporting documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, workflows and technical specifications for the wider operations team. Contribute to the staff appraisal process where necessary and act as mentor for trainees and other staff. Resilient to a changing environment, workforce and requirements. What Experience we’re looking for Experience and evidence of working in a live broadcast environment – preferably in a Live Sports environment. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Experience working in a Technical Operations / Broadcast Engineering environment Excellent IT skills and experience operating technical broadcast equipment such as Shotoku, Calrec, Riedel, BNCS and Sony systems is essential. A good knowledge and commitment to providing high quality technical output. Able to understand competing operational, editorial and production requirements. Good interpersonal skills to establish harmonious working relationships with a variety of personalities, and able to communicate effectively with others and keep them informed on progress and to clarify production requirements. Able to demonstrate editorial awareness and an understanding of BBC Sport priorities and objectives. Knowledge of Studio lighting and using lighting desks. Awareness of production Health and Safety and or recently trained Knowledge of production computer systems. A broadcast/technology related qualification is desired, but not essential.
