Job Summary
In-service inspection of pressurised equipment, tanks, and piping systems to meet regulatory and customer requirements. Responsible for provision of inspection services to clients in the Norwich region.
Responsibilities
1. Drafting and reviewing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE).
2. Identifying plant preparation requirements from the WSE.
3. Examination of equipment in accordance with the WSE.
4. Undertake NDT – ultrasonic thickness checks, and magnetic particle & dye penetrant flaw detection.
5. Coordination of third-party NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist techniques.
6. Preparation of clear written reports supported by photographs.
7. Assessment of deterioration.
8. Reviewing design calculations and grading defects.
9. Coordinating repairs.
10. Participation in Risk Based Inspection studies.
Qualifications
1. HNC/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
2. Incorporated Engineer status (desirable).
Experience and Skills
1. Mechanical Engineering background.
2. Understanding of engineering principles.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication.
4. Ability to accurately follow procedures.
5. Courage to make (and defend) difficult decisions.
6. Good interpersonal skills, and the capability to work independently.
7. Ambition to learn and progress.
8. Understanding of fabrication processes and NDT is desirable.
9. Experience of chemical and/or oil & gas industry is desirable.
