Job Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and dynamic Supply Chain Planner to join our team temporarily to cover maternity leave. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the supply chain operations, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of bananas from suppliers to customers. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong analytical abilities, and the capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Demand Planning and Forecasting: Develop and maintain demand forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and customer orders. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to incorporate promotional plans and market intelligence into demand forecasts.
* Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock outs or overstock situations. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to optimize procurement processes.
* Production Planning: Develop and execute production plans to meet customer demands while optimizing resource utilization. Monitor production schedules and adjust plans as needed to accommodate changes in demand or supply.
* Logistics and Distribution: Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure efficient transportation and distribution of products. Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
* Performance Analysis: Analyse supply chain performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including procurement, sales, marketing, and finance, to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with overall business goals. Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred but not essential.
* Proven experience as a Supply Chain Planner or in a similar role within the fresh produce industry.
* Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including demand forecasting, inventory management, and logistics.
* Proficient in using supply chain management software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, advanced Excel).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with perishable goods, specifically fresh produce.
* Knowledge of supply chain sustainability practices.
* Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
Shift pattern: 5 days out of 7 including working Sundays.
Shift time: 8am - 4pm Tuesday & Friday and 7am – 3pm Saturday to Monday.
