We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician who thrives on maintaining research equipment and production facilities to world-class standards and has an interest in sustainability and the bio-based materials sector. You will be responsible for maintaining laboratory facilities and pilot process equipment including developing efficient maintenance processes and procedures. This is a key role in the facilities team and is vital for PACT’s ability to deliver products to our customers on time and to an acceptable quality standard and will have a significant impact on the future success of the facilities team.

Core Responsibilities
* Lab Equipment Maintenance and Reliability: Organise and carry out preventive equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure consistency and repeatability across the facility, this includes all lab equipment.
* Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions recording equipment reliability (MTBF) mean time between failures.
* Pilot Line Maintenance and Reliability Organise and carry out cleaning, line preparation, preventive maintenance and calibration to ensure consistency and repeatability for the R2R coating line.
* Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions recording R2R line reliability (MTBF).
* Facility Operations Support: Help test and maintain facilities equipment and services. Write maintenance SOPs and other documentation such as maintenance schedules required for an efficient and repeatable maintenance process.
* Health and Safety Have maintenance-focused input into risk assessments and ensure all materials related to maintenance tasks have relevant COSHH and MSDS data.
* Risk Management: Assist in identifying and mitigating risks with maintenance processes and equipment using FMEA and other tools. Continuous Improvement: Apply continuous improvement methods such as LEAN to all areas requiring maintenance and calibration, always looking to measure performance, reduce waste and be more sustainable.
* Technical RequirementsTechnical Skills: Excellent ability to setup, operate and maintain manufacturing and facilities equipment, a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
* Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: Great troubleshooting skills, Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions. Root Cause Analysis, using systematic methods to diagnose recurring problems and prevent failures. Manufacturing and process improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies. Data Analysis with the ability to collect, interpret, and act on data for continuous improvement.
* Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with mixing and roll-to-roll equipment and technologies with the capacity to troubleshoot and solve technical problems promptly. Experience in non-woven textile/leather manufacturing is a plus. Experience of maintaining a research lab environment and the associated services, supplies, equipment and health and safety checks.
Qualifications
* BSc or HNC/HND qualified technician.
* Experience: 3 years of industry experience in facilities and equipment technical support.
* Roll to Roll and/or large volume mixing manufacturing experience would be an advantage.
* Experience of optimisation tools and techniques such as LEAN and DOE would be a bonus.
