Amazon seeks a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for our AWS Data Centre team. This role involves operating and maintaining electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) supports mission-critical operations, ensuring equipment uptime better than 99.999%, and drives innovation to reduce operational costs.
The EOT is the front-line responder for troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDU, HVAC units, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. The role requires 24/7 shift coverage, which may include 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, and variable work weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
* Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power, PDU, and ATS replacements
* Support Data Centre Operations technicians
* Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures
* Adhere to all safety procedures
* Work 12-hour shifts (rotating days/nights, 3-4 day work weeks)
* Take operational readings during rounds (temperatures, voltages, currents)
* Manage workflows and inventory via CMMS
* Supervise contractors performing maintenance
* Respond to emergency calls during on-call rotations
* Follow physical security procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Commutable to Thames Valley Region or ability to work in cramped/elevated locations
* Technical training or relevant experience
* Strong communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and operational tools; familiar with BMS and EPMS systems; maintenance management software proficiency
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 4+ years of Data Centre Engineering experience; degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
* Knowledge of network design, low voltage cabling
* Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, pass driving record check; ability to travel between sites
