On behalf of my client, a leading Aerospace and Defence Electronics organisation based in Greater Manchester, I am pleased to present the opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer specialising in development of power electronics and related technologies on a permanent basis.
This role is primarily responsible for assisting the design team in providing engineering solutions that exceed both internal and external customer standards in the design and development of bespoke electrical power and control systems. It involves provision of the design, documentation and technical reports required to fulfil the design objectives consistent with the requirements and standards as set out in the customer's specification. The end-user platforms for these solutions reside in the aerospace, land and maritime sectors, and as such, reliability and product safety will play a prominent role.

You will be responsible for:
1. Technical responsibility for development of allocated power conversion and power management products and technologies
2. Reviewing customer specifications to establish feasibility and possible conceptual solutions.
3. Identification and development of new technologies to improve products
4. Determining optimal power converter topologies and product overall electrical design, including product compliance with electrical requirements, including electrical environmental requirements such as EMI.
5. Developing, reviewing and approving the electrical sections of proposals, including time/cost estimation of tasks and hardware.
6. Ownership of compliance matrix responses relating to electrical and electromagnetic compatibility in the final product
7. Developing and maintaining mathematical models and simulations of electrical power converters
8. Writing, reviewing and approving simulation output reports and schematic drawings
9. Creating, reviewing and approving electrical design schematics and PCB layout
10. Preparing design reviews of electrical aspects of our products, including the creation of data packs/presentations
11. Liaison with internal functions and suppliers in purchase of materials & components required on projects
12. Technical ownership of product integrity and performance.
You will have:
1. Degree in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering
2. Significant, relevant industry experience
3. Relevant power converter and/or power management design experience
4. Good knowledge of multiple topologies and understanding of selection criteria
5. Requirements Analysis
6. Schematic Capture Experience (Preferred; Altium)
7. Production level mil or aerospace PCB design experience (Preferred; Altium)
8. Development Testing Experience
9. Programming of FPGAs (desirable)
10. Familiarity with safety critical software development (desirable)
11. Experience of DO-254, DO-160, Mil-STD-810, Mil-HDBK-217 (desirable)
