Our Sustainable Water Management Team is seeking a Senior and Principal Hydrologist to help deliver our national programme of work. Focusing on the delivery of flood risk management projects, you will have the opportunity to be a major contributor or lead for our external and internal clients. You will be responsible for driving the direction of projects, working with other disciplines within the water team, and overseeing and mentoring junior hydrologists within our team.
Our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team delivers flood modelling to support a broad portfolio of work including FCERM studies, major infrastructure projects (including working across the energy, transport, government, and water sectors), and strategic studies.
As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate in the leadership of our national hydrology. You will be responsible for delivering and providing technical oversight of projects to offer a range of flood risk management-related services for government, local authority, private, and major infrastructure clients, as well as supporting the delivery of innovation in our sector.
Your new role, what's involved?
* Provide technical leadership for flood hydrology using recognised UK-based methods (Statistical, ReFH etc.) for often complex studies (small catchments, permeable, urban, complex data).
* Undertake Quality Assurance and independent technical reviews.
* Prepare project and technical reports and presentations.
* Mentor and technically develop others in hydrology.
* Support business development through identifying prospective opportunities and assisting in the preparation of proposals.
* Provide project, commercial, and financial management for projects.
* Undertake client and stakeholder liaison.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* A proven track record in undertaking hydrology studies.
* Experience of undertaking hydrology reviews for statutory bodies.
* Knowledge of hydraulic modelling methods.
* Commercial experience, including project management and bid preparation.
* The ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
* Relevant experience of delivering infrastructure projects or working with local authority/national government.
* The drive and ability to build client relationships and develop suitable opportunities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Chartership with a relevant professional body (or commitment to work towards it within an agreed period).
* Desirable to have experience in: GIS; FCERM studies; Flood Risk Assessments; knowledge of UK flood risk policy (NPPF and TAN15); flood modelling methods.
