We have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing and developing Congenital and Pediatric Cardiac Investigations Department as a Band 7 Highly Specialised Physiologist in Rhythm Management, who will take an active part in our non-invasive and cardiac catheter team.
As a tertiary cardiac level 1 centre, we provide Cardiac Investigation support to the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre for both paediatrics at the LRI and Adult Congenital heart Disease patients at the Glenfield Hospital.
With the relocation of EMCHC to LRI we have a purpose built, state of the art facility, which will form part of the building blocks of the new Children’s Hospital. Including a brand new echo and pacing suite, theatres and catheter lab with the most up to date equipment, and a new outpatients department.
We are looking to invest in our staff to ensure that we continue to provide an outstanding service to our patients from Leicester and also surrounding counties.
Since the EMCHC move to the LRI as a Cardiac Investigations Department we cover Outpatient and Inpatient activity for both non-invasive and invasive catheter lab procedures and are currently developing the rhythm management service where this post will be crucial.
This will be an opportunity for the successful applicant to apply and extend their knowledge into the field of paediatrics and congenital/ inherited heart disease.
The successful applicant will be part of the paediatric emergency on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist, you will be provided with opportunities to enhance your skills as a clinical practitioner by working within UHL for both LRI in paediatrics and Glenfield for adults.
More specialised training will be provided if required and we are always looking to develop skills and professionalism. We are currently supporting HSST roles.
The role includes being the lead in device clinics, implants and working in the interventional catheter lab. Other duties may include non-invasive investigations.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The cardiac physiology service at UHL performs over 20,000 cardiac investigations and procedures per year. You will be joining a team comprised of cardiac physiologists, administration and support staff who work together to support a team of highly skilled, world class cardiology consultants. EMCHC have recently appointed a new Consultant Electrophysiologist.
All applicants will be expected to have BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent. HCPC registration or RCCP registration (or eligibility to join) is essential. Depending on experience possess or aiming towards completion of IBHRE/ BHRS Accreditation in EP or devices.
The post holder will have extensive knowledge of arrhythmia management focussing on cardiac devices implantation and follow up and catheter lab, working closely with our newly appointed EMCHC Consultant in EP. Participation in the on call rota is essential.
Part time applicants will be accepted.

Qualifications
* BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent
* IBHRE or BHRS accreditation in EP or devices
* RCCP/AHCS/HCPC registration (or eligibility to join)
* MSc
Experience/Knowledge
* Excellent working knowledge of a wide range of non-invasive and invasive Cardiac Techniques
* Specialist knowledge of Cardiac rhythm management and EP/RFA techniques
* Able to work as part of a team
* Supervision of junior staff
* Knowledge of congenital pathologies and interventions
* Teaching skills
* Appraisals and recruitment and selection
* Working knowledge of DSM testing and ICD implants
